Every TalkTool call runs in one of these two modes, and the phone system decides which. It comes down to whether the audio reaches TalkTool as separate phone legs we control — or as one already-mixed call we were added to.
When TalkTool places or answers the call, each person is a separate audio stream. Each side hears only their own language — the translation speaks on top while the other person's real voice sits quietly underneath — and both directions translate in parallel. Nobody waits through the other language being read to the room.
You get it on
When you three-way TalkTool into a call that already exists on your carrier, the carrier hands us a single mixed stream of everyone. Mixed audio can't be split back into separate ears — so the translation plays aloud to the whole room and turn-taking is serial. Hearing both languages is expected there, not a bug.
It happens on
The whole rule: if the other person’s voice reaches TalkTool on its own phone leg — we dialed them, or they dialed us — you get translation mode. If a human merged us into an existing call, it’s interpreter mode. Whenever you can choose, choose translation mode: it’s delivered separately to each participant. Response time varies by language, audio and network conditions.
However your customers reach you — from your browser, your own number, a call already in progress, or one we place for you — TalkTool translates both sides live in 60+ languages. Pick whatever fits the moment.
01
Dial any customer right from TalkTool. You speak English, they hear their language, and a live transcript of both sides scrolls as you talk.
02
Get a TalkTool number and share it with non-English customers. Their call is translated live and forwarded straight to your existing business line — your team answers exactly like they always have.
03
Already on a call on any phone? Put the customer on hold, add our line, and merge us in. Translations play to the whole room — like an interpreter on speakerphone, with no app to install for you or your customer.
04
Call your TalkTool number from any phone, press 1, and give us their number. We dial them with translation already running — no app, no dashboard.
Everything above runs on a phone number your callers or your team can dial. Nothing about your current setup changes — no app on your phone, no new hardware, no porting. Your existing number keeps working exactly as before.
Your TalkTool number sits in front of the line you already answer. Customers call it and hear a short greeting in their language, your current phone rings like any normal call, and you pick up and just talk — you hear English, they hear theirs.
What your caller does
A dedicated number that skips every code: a team member dials it and translation is just there. With the customer on hold, they tap Add Call, dial the saved number, and merge — an interpreter is in the room in seconds.
On the keypad
Every organization gets a line that works from any phone, landlines included. Dial it, enter your six-digit organization code and a two-digit language code, and choose how the call starts.
